Joe Mutasa
Joe Mutasa was born in 1964 in Rusape, a small town in North East Zimbabwe.

As many other well known artists, Joe began sculpting due to his elder brother, Gregory's influence. Initially, he worked on realistic verdite stone busts and animals. As time went on, Mutasa became disillusioned with what he was doing and felt unchallenged as an artist.

His quest led him to Chapungu Sculpture Park residency program where he is now an invited artist. His work has evolved into a fine understanding of graceful form and space, which is generally worked from hard stone. His long, elegant sculptures show his domination and mastery in his chosen medium and he is seen as one of the leading, second-generation Zimbabwean stone sculptors.
