Dolorosa Sinaga
Dolorosa Sinaga was born in Sibolga, the Batak land, in Sumatra in 1952. One of Dolorosa's main concerns has been to find a way to depict the experience of women. Many of her sculptures are specifically about the female body.

Dolorosa graduated from The Jakarta Arts Institute in 1977 and has since studied at St. Martin's School of Art, London, San Francisco Art Institute, and Maryland University, USA.
She has worked with and explored a variety of emotions. She has peeled off all layers of artifice to reach the core language of visual communication. Her works symbolize faith and illusion, crisis, solidarity, multiculturalism, and women's struggle against violence. Dolorosa has received several awards and recognitions for her achievements in Indonesia including being appointed a member of the Rectorium of The Jakarta Arts Institute.
